Beyonder is an omnipotent being in the universe. Exposure of his mutant genes to the Terrigen Mist created an unprecedented reaction, bestowing upon him seemingly godlike abilities&granting knowledge beyond other Inhumans of his time, also erasing [for an unknown reason] him from Black Bolt’s memory. Beyonder observed the earth for years&was fascinated to discover that the beings living there weren’t each a creation complete unto themselves, so he was surprised to discover that inhabitants were merely a part of a greater whole making up the world; one that was itself but a member of a larger collection of universes, perhaps of infinite extent; in his unique point of view, the “incomplete” must strive to find some way to remedy itself. For this reason, he decided that the driving force of all sentient beings must be desire, an emotional state previously unknown to him, which manifested itself as a longing to grow, to be, to evolve. He began to view himself as unfinished&found that he felt desire; to investigate the nature of it, Beyonder undertook an experiment. Various adventurers based on Earth, including Spider-Man, Hulk, Avengers, and X-Men, went to Central Park to see an enormous circular construct that materialized in Sheep Meadow. Upon entering, the people were teleported to an area near a galaxy far from the vicinity of Earth’s. Similarly, a large number of criminals, including the Enchantress, Dr. Doom, Ultron, and even Galactus, found themselves there; over the next few days, they engaged in a “secret war” amongst themselves. Meanwhile, Doom used technological means to steal Beyonder’s unlimited power&absorbed it into himself. Too weakened to strike back, Beyonder took possession of Klaw, who was resurrected on Battleworld after his destruction by Dazzler, thus motivating him to encourage Doom’s fears of his superhuman opponents, as well as playing upon Victor’s own deep-seated doubts over his ability to control the powers.
